The film is shown with the backdrop of Monte Fest. The Roman Catholic festival Monte Fest was initiated by Joachim Miranda, a Goan Catholic priest at Farangipet in 1763 at Monte Mariano Church at Farangipet. Monte Fest is a major Konkani Catholic festival celebrated on the 8th of September every year. This festival celebrates the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and involves the blessing of Novem (new crops). There are nine days novena in honor of our Blessed Mother along with an offering of flowers.

The film portrays a fight between two brothers in a Catholic joint family.  It’s the story is of a mother and two sons. The mother instills her children with good values to become responsible citizens of the country. She is god fearing and very devoted and believes that respectability is better than wealth.

The elder son Richard toils to take care of the property whilst the younger son Victor turns into a vagabond and is a spendthrift. Their mother prays to God to change his nature. But like a prodigal son, he claims a share of the property and decides to part ways from the joint family.

There is a suggestion to get him married so that he will mend his ways. But it is like casting pearls before swine. Victor’s friend offers him a job in the Andaman Islands. Once there, Victor makes friends with Merlyn who is a Goan journalist. Since there is no news of Victor, Jacinta - his wife leaves for Andaman. The story dwells on how Victor’s mind is changed and whether he receives forgiveness for his wrongdoings.

Beautiful scenes of the Andaman Islands have been captured in this film as well as some scenes from Goa. The Karnataka government has bestowed an award for this film. The popular feast of Mangaloreans celebrating the nativity of Our Lady namely Monte Fest has been picturized in this film.
